Legislative Hearings on the Better Streets Plan

On September 21, 2010, Mayor Gavin Newsom introduced legislation to adopt the Better Streets Plan into the City's official plans and codes.This legislation was adopted by the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors at the hearings described below.

	OCTOBER 7, 2010: At the hearing on October 7, 2010, the Planning Commission initiated General Plan amendments. View the Planning Commission initiation packet here.
	OCTOBER 28, 2010: At the hearing on October 28, 2010, the Planning Commission adopted CEQA findings, General Plan and Planning Code amendments, and related actions concerning the Better Streets Plan. View the Planning Commission adoption packet here.
	NOVEMBER 15, 2010: The Land Use and Economic Development Committee of the Board of Supervisors recommended General Plan and Municipal Code amendments related to the Better Streets Plan to the full Board of Supervisors.
	NOVEMBER 23, 2010: The Board of Supervisors unanimously passed the Better Streets Plan on first reading.
	DECEMBER 7, 2010: The Board of Supervisors unanimously passed the Better Streets Plan on second reading, forwarding the legislation on to the Mayor for his signature.

Community Advisory Committee

The Better Streets Plan Community Advisory Committee (CAC) provided directed input into the plan development.

There are no additional CAC meetings scheduled at this time.

To date, the Better Streets city team has held 4 rounds of public outreach on the Better Streets Plan, with over 100 Better Streets outreach events and thousands of attendees in total, including public meetings, presentations to community groups, focus group interviews, tabling events, and a youth walking tour. Community meetings have been held in many different neighborhoods about the city.
